Friday 15 April 2011

Hi Everyone, Well this is a very late post 11.27pm!!! My post is a bit later today for a few reasons, Firstly I had a full class of nine ladies today making Vintage style Shabby chic cards. And secondly I came home to find our Large 4ft fish tank had split down the side emptying half its water all over my dinning room carpet! Thankfully the fish are ok but to say I wasn't pleased is an understatement!! lol. Though it could have been a lot worse. So to get back to the project, in the top photo it shows all the board pages and papers cut to size ready to be stuck together. Again I am using the "butterfly Garden" collection by Pink Paisley so that the mini matches the box it will go in.
Here are the pages after they have been covered with the papers. I have also stamped onto the pages using some of my Tim Holtz stamps by Stampers Anonymous. The set I used is called Papillon and Is stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. I have also rounded the edges of the my pages with my Zutter Round-it-all tool and then edged them by rubbing over Walnut Stain distress ink. In the picture you can also see the Tim Holtz book plate that I will fix to the front of the mini.

Hope you're liking the project so far

Sorry for the late post, be sure to pop back tomorrow to see the next stage. I will post once I have been out and bought a new Fish tank!!!

Day 3

Hi everyone, here we are on day 3, I have nearly completed the outside of the box now, although at the moment I feel there is something missing! On the front of the box I have added a Keyhole, which is from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology range. I added this to the box using Glossy accents.I have also added some trims to the top of the box, both of these trims are from The craft room. The top of the box has also been decorated with some paper flowers that I have sprayed with Glimmer mist.
Sorry for the dark pictures, outside is so dark as the rain hasn't stopped for the last hour! It's hard to see in these photos but the feet have now been added to the box too.
I'm still not quite sure If the box is finished so I am going to set that aside for the next few days while I start to make the mini album to go inside the box. I hope you are all liking the project so far, be sure to pop back for next post.

Have a good afternoon

Wednesday 13 April 2011

Hi everyone, well this is day 2, Once my box and feet were dry I applied some Gold Leaf Rub and Buff. You can buy this from most craft shops of Hardware stores. One down three more to go!
In the picture below I have coloured all the box feet and then applied some designer paper to the top of my box. The paper I have used is from the Butterfly Garden collection by Pink Paisley. To apply the paper I used Mod podge, then once it was stuck down I applied a thin coat of Mod podge over the paper to seal it. The reason I do this is to protect the paper as the item will be handled alot.
The little fairy was on the bottom of the 12 x 12 paper so I had to cut her out and stick her on to the box and for this I also used Mod podge.

Once I have made this box I am going to make a mini album that matches to fit into the box, Please come back for the next post to see what happens next.

The start of a new project. (Day 1)

So today is the second day of the Easter holidays and before the kids broke up from school I promised myself I would complete a project just for fun. These days a lot of my time is spent making samples for classes and also preparing for the classes too. So here is day 1, now bare in mind with the kids off I get about an hour free to craft, so I can only do a little each day! Here is a little box that I have had for such a long time, so long I don't even know where it is from! The wooden balls are actually dolls heads but I am going to use them as feet for my box.
So the first step was to paint my box and feet with Acrylic paint, the colour I used is Antique White. Now to leave this to dry.
And here is a picture of the mess I have managed to make in less than 10 minutes! ha ha. You might notice by the photo that i'm not crafting in my craft room today, that's because I have samples drying on my desk, so I have now spread to the dinning room! oh dear! Well no one said creativity was tidy.....did they?

Be sure to pop back tomorrow to see the next stage, I'm off to tidy up!!

Here is a mini Album made with the My minds eye Christmas paper stack. The pages have all been made using white board. We then covered them with the designer paper and cut the edges with a Tim holtz Die by sizzix Ti give the pages an unusal shape. The frame is also made using a die and has been left open at the back to slide a photo behind. Here is a side view that shows the thickness of this mini album.
The pages have mostly been left blank to add photos and journalling to. Everything has been handmade with either paper or card. On this page you can undo the ribbon to reveal a concertina page for more photos

Here is another page, this one has a pocket containing a little book that holds more photographs.

This was such a fun mini to create for christmas memories. Now need to get the photos developed and put them all in!

Hope you enjoyed this project.

This page has a corner pocket covered with ribbon roses. These ribbon roses can be made with any wired ribbon. The brown card is a mat to place a photo onto and then you can journal about the picture on the reverse side. than it can slide into the corner pocket. The other page has plenty of space for a large photo or a few smaller ones.
On this page the ribbon is holding closed a concertina which holds 4 photographs, it is a great way of getting more photos into your mini albums.

Faux Pressed Flower technique

These cards have been made using a technique that uses paper flowers to create a pressed flower look on your cards. This technique is fun and easy to do for all ages.

The flowers I have used are paper flowers from Prima. I added centes to the flowers by using self adhesive gem stones. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. The backing paper on this second card is a designer paper from Bo Bunny.

Hope you all like the cards, any questions please email me

This is a quick post to show a card I have made using one of the new Tilda stamps from Magnolia. The backing paper is from a paper pad from Karrs. The stamped greeting is from a stamp set from Wild rose studios.

Tilda has been Coloured with Pro markers and then added to the card with 3D foam pads.

Have a good day

This card is a dimensional card that folds flat to fit into an A5 envelope for posting. I made the cardblank from 300g white cardstock. The images are all stamps from Magnolia stamps. The leaves have been made with a Martha stewert Flower punch using 2 tone green cardstock. All the images have been coloured with Pro markers from LetrasetThis is a view from above which shows you the dimension of the card. The front of the card has an acetate window which Tilda is fixed to.
And below is a close up of the stamped images that have been used.

Have a great day

A house is a house Altered art class

Here is a picture of a project we made in Fridays class. The class was called a house is a house. This little house started as a plain wood blank. Firstly we painted the house with White Acrylic paint and then gave it a distressed look with some gold rub and buff. Then using Gel medium we cut and stuck some designer paper in the back of each compartment. For the gable we punched the designer paper with a Martha Stewert edge punch and then added it to the house with Glossy accents. The verse in the bottom centre reads "A house is a house, a family make it a home" I have added some pictures of my boys when they were small. I have 2 more photos to add of my husband and I together to finish it off. The clock and bookplate embellishments are from the Tim holtz range. The bird on the front had been die cut with the Sizzix die that is called Caged bird and is also from Tim Holtz. I cut it from White chipboard and then used Distress inks to colour, then I took a clock stamp from Paper Artsy and stamped the clocks over the top. I thought this was a good way of representing that "Time flys"

Here is a Close up of the Bird. I have also edged him with Gold rub and buff. Hope you are all having a good day

Mini Album in a matching box

As much as I love making scrapbook layouts for 12 x12 albums I would much rather make Mini scrapbook albums from scratch. Here is a mini album I made with a matching box to keep it in. This little mini is a perfect size to give to someone as a present. The frame on the front of the album is a working frame that is open at the back so a picture can be placed in at a later date.I bound the book with my Cinch.

Here is a shot of the mini in the box. I have yet to add photos ect. Hope you like it, Have a great day Maria
